Marathon tips 🏃‍♂️

Hey fellow-vegans! :seedling: I hope it’s okay to post this here :slight_smile:

I’m a student from Leuven (Belgium) and I’m running a marathon to raise money for Plant-Based Universities, an international student-led organisation campaigning for 100% plant-based catering at universities. They’re now active in 10 countries with over 30 campaigns, and have already helped universities including Oxford and Cambridge move towards fully plant-based catering, which I think is pretty amazing considering they only started in 2021!

I’ve been vegan for over 2 years and I’m really involved in the campaign in Leuven, so I care about this a lot and wanted to do something a bit crazy to support it :sweat_smile:

I’m mainly looking for tips on how to get a fundraiser to actually reach people, and any marathon advice is very welcome too! And if anyone happens to be able to donate a little, I’d obviously be incredibly grateful. I feel a bit awkward asking for money from strangers, so please don’t feel any pressure at all! :hugs: Even sharing it, giving advice or just boosting the post would mean a lot :green_heart:

Thank you so much! :seedling::pig_face:

Hey Merel! First off, massive respect to you for taking this on—running a marathon is no joke, let alone doing it to support such an awesome cause! When it comes to getting people to actually notice and share your fundraiser, I totally get feeling awkward about asking for money, but framing it around the cause rather than just the run usually helps take the pressure off. Have you tried dropping a post in any local running or vegan student groups on Facebook, Reddit, or Discord? Also, if you can, share quick little updates on your training progress (like hitting a long run milestone) alongside your donation link—people love following a journey and are way more likely to chip in when they see how hard you’re working. Good luck with the training and the Bruges Marathon! You’ve got this!
