Apple Tea Cake Recipe

Ingredients 185g Nuttelex
3/4 cup caster sugar
1.5 cups plain flour
1/2-3/4 cup apple sauce
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 tbsp hot water
1 dessert spoon lemon rind
2 large cooking apples (cut and sliced)
1/4 cup brown sugar
Instructions Using a beater, cream the Nuttelex. Add the apple sauce and then beat in the sugar. Next add the flour, baking powder, vanilla, hot water and lemon rind. Beat for 10 minutes until smooth (you may want to add more apple sauce if the consistency isn’t right).

Pour into a greased cake tin (springform is best) and press the sliced apple on top, fanning them out from the centre. Sprinkle with the brown sugar, or simply some cinnamon sugar.

Bake in a moderate oven for 1 hour, or until golden brown.
