Appendicitis and Phytobezoars

I was wondering what eating thousands of seeds, inclusive of fruit, might amount to as a lifestyle, besides the notion that fruits naturally attract animals, who are perfectly suited to eat them, and supposedly the seeds are dispersed entirely afterwards.

Appendicitis and phytobezoars are two potential problems indicated for humans. More articles came up for “bezoars” in general, mentioning various seeds for the most part, but there’s a first time for everything, like popcorn and lentils too. Here are a few quotes…

Can fruit seeds and undigested plant residuals cause acute appendicitis:

Acute Appendicitis…

A rare cause of small bowel obstruction…

Intestinal obstruction due to phytobezoars:

Fecal impaction in adults: report of 30 cases of seed bezoars in the rectum…

Obstruction of the Sigmoid Colon by Grape Seeds:

Large bowel obstruction due to sesame seed bezoar…

Rectal Pain and the Colonic Crunch Sign:

Lentil soup bezoar…

About Pineapples…

Successful treatment with pineapple juice…

If you found this at all disgusting, wait there’s more: “In ancient times, bezoars from animals were ground up and ingested as remedies for various maladies and as antidotes to poisons”. :pale:
Oh, and now you really know what’s in hot dogs… obviously though, some animals aren’t suited to eat seeds either, so good luck with that.
